I have been reading some great books lately.  Many of the January books are from

Erin's Challenge 16.0.   My husband and I enjoy doing the challenge together.

 

First I am posting my Best of 2021 Books!   2021 turned out to be a good reading year.  I finished 89 books which is a normal reading year for me.  Do you have a favorite from this list?

 

 

 

 

 

January kicked off the year with most of the books being from Erin's Challenge 16.0.  I didn't have a favorite per se this month, but  I am intrigued and look foward to reading the sequel to There, There in 2022.  Any books here you have read and enjoyed?  Let me know.

This is my first post in over a year.  Had to join in on Show Us Your Books Anniversary!! with JANA and STEPH  It is a fun monthly link up to share what you have read that month with other readers.  

My Reading has been pretty steady over the past year.  There have been times when I've read a lot (while I had covid (while vaccinated).   Other times have been slower.  Audiobooks have been my friend this year and I'm not mad about it.

During the quarantine I felt like I was on a reading roller coaster, some weeks reading a lot; others reading very little.  Glad to be heading into June with summer reads and Erin's Reading Challenge 13.0 coming up in July.  I have enjoyed buying books at local independent book stores and this week my book club had our first social distancing meet up and it was fun.  We swapped books, made resin coasters with flowers and sea glass and shared little goodies with each other.  

Favorites from my reads were:  Long Way Down, Valentine, Summer of 69, and Save me the Plums 4 stars, everything else 3 stars except My Very 90's Romance 2 stars.  

Currently I am reading Maybe You Should Talk to Someone and Red at the Bone.

Reading has been interesting lately.  Finished up Erin's Challenge April 1st.  Many good reads.  March favorites were Ordinary Grace, Hum if You Don't Know the Words and

 Dear Edward.

April is shaping up albeit slowly.  I feel a little off my reading curve right now.  Ask Again, Yes and What Happens in Paradise are favorites so far.  I really enjoyed WHIP.  It was a true escape read and the setting of St. John didn't hurt ;)   Can't wait for Trouble in Paradise this Fall.  

Currently reading When We Believed in Mermaids (highly recommended by Steph and Jana.  Just started listening to The Dreams From My Father:  A Story of Race and Inheritance.

November was a good reading month.  I enjoyed almost all of the books I read/listened to.  My favorites were Wild Game, A Fighting Chance and Winter in Paradise.  I attended an event for the release of Elin Hilderbrand's new book What Happens in Paradise.  See a pic from the event below.  It was fun!

The only book that I did not care for was That's What Frenemies are For.  Currently reading Where the Crawdad's Sing.

The Best Monthly Book Wrap Up on the Internet!!

Enjoyed my reading this month.  I would recommend Spark of Light (controversial but so well written and researched), The Gifted School (great for a book club discussion), and The Middle Place (anything by Kelly Corrigan).  There really was not a bad book in the bunch.

Catching Up with 2018 Reads

 I am catching up on my reads from November/December 2018.  I'm linking up with Jana and Steph for Show Us Your Books.  Every 2nd Tuesday of the month, this fun group shares what they've been reading and short reviews/recommendations.  A great way to fill your TBR!

I had some great reads the last two months.  

11/22/63 by Stephen King (WOW)  I found this fascinating.  It kept my attention. I think I read it in a week.  

Still Me by Jo Jo Moyes  I enjoyed this third book in the Louisa Clark series (started with Me Before You and then After You)  She remains one of my favorite modern heroines.  

Bossypants & The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo.  Tina Fey and Amy Schumer's books were both entertaining.  I was surprised how much I liked listening to these.  Any recommendation for other comedic memoirs?

Evicted Poverty and Profit in the American City by Matthew Desmond.  I flew through this book as it is definitely one I would consider in my wheel house (non-fiction, social issue).  Definitely opened my eyes to a crisis I did not know much about.  

Last Ride to Graceland by Kim Wright

This book was both heavy and light.  It followed a young girl's journey to find more about her biological father.  The backdrop of Memphis, Graceland really pulled you into the story.   Planning my second trip to Memphis in March.  

All the books I read were good, these are just a few highlights.

BEST OF BOOKS 2018

These were my favorite books of 2018.  I reached my Goodreads Goal of 100 and surpassed it by 20.  I am currently trying to make a plan for reading in 2019.  Beginning to read again was the best thing I've done in years.  If I had to recommend one book from this list it would be 11/22/63.  Amazing!
